Universidade Portucalense awards Honorary Doctorate to Luís Portela

The Chairman of the Bial Foundation, Luís Portela, is being awarded today the Honorary Doctorate by Universidade Portucalense.

The ceremony takes place as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of Universidade Portucalense, in the University’s Aula Magna in Porto, and will be live-streamed on the University’s Facebook page from 3 pm.

The Honorary Doctorate is awarded to Luís Portela in recognition of his exemplary career in the fields of science, innovation, and business leadership. Through Bial, he has driven the internationalisation of the Portuguese pharmaceutical industry, and through the Bial Foundation, he has promoted scientific and biomedical research, making a significant contribution to the advancement of knowledge and society.

This distinction adds to the many awards and honours that the Chairman of the Bial Foundation has received throughout his career, including Honorary Doctorates from the Faculty of Medicine of Cádiz (Spain), the Universidade do Porto, the Faculdade de Farmácia of the Universidade de Coimbra, and the Universidade de Lisboa.
