He is a Full Professor in the Department of Psychology at Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy). Additionally, he is the Co-founder and President of the Consciousness, Mindfulness, Compassion – International Association, a Member of the Advisory Board for Mind & Life Europe association, and a Soto Zen Buddhist practitioner. His research interests primarily focus on consciousness, mindfulness meditation, attention, well-being, and their neural correlates, using various methods of investigation.
He earned his BS, MSc, and PhD degrees in Psychology from Sapienza Università di Roma (Italy).
He has previously served as a Lecturer at the University of Sunderland (UK), a Senior Researcher at Universiteit Leiden (the Netherlands), a Visiting Researcher at the RIKEN Center for Brain Science (Japan), and a Visiting Professor at the University of Allahabad (India).
